Curious Sports Journal

Write for us

We welcome pitches that make a specific part of sport easier to understand: a rule that changes a restart, a tactical choice readers can spot, an equipment design question, or the background to a sporting custom.

What makes a good pitch

Tell us the question your piece answers, the sport and scope, and why a general reader might find it useful. A strong pitch has one clear idea, explains how you would make it understandable without assuming specialist knowledge, and identifies sources you expect to consult. Comparisons should have a clear basis; avoid claims that depend on unsupported testing or insider access.

What we are looking for

We are interested in original explainers, comparisons, histories and viewing guides across different sports. We do not seek promotional copy, unsupported claims about performance, or writing that presents specialist instruction as a substitute for appropriate coaching or official rules.

How to send a proposal

Send your pitch through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Please include a brief outline and any relevant links or source references. A proposal is not a guarantee of publication, and we do not promise a response time.

Our point of view

Understanding the game makes watching more fun

We look for the small mechanics behind the big moments. No expert kit required: just curiosity and a willingness to pause the replay.
